Well here we are, and here is Connor McDavid. That game on Tuesday night against Columbus gave us Oilers fans a sniff at what could’ve been a special season. What would have this kid done if he had 82 games? I mean, it is apparent that Connor has completely changed the vibe surrounding the team.

I always knew he was good, but the way he stepped in against the Blue Jackets and took over the game was phenomenal.

Just like the way everyone at the 2016 NHL All-Star game asked to play with John Scott, everyone in Edmonton should be asking to play with Connor McDavid.

Tonight we have another chance to witness Connor’s comeback. It is clear that he has chemistry with both Benoit Pouliot and Jordan Eberle, and with the Ottawa Senators giving up the second most goals per game I think there is a good chance we could see them dominate again.

The Senators allow a league worst 33.3 shots per game.

With a potential win tonight, and a good chance at beating a struggling Canadiens team on Saturday, the Oilers have a good chance to get some mojo going.

In other news, both Brandon Davidson and Justin Schultz draw back into the lineup. Again, we are taking another step in being close to having a healthy roster.

Predictions for tonight:

  1. McDavid, Pouliot and Eberle dominate, and account for two goals on the ice.
  2. Cam Talbot gets a shutout.
  3. Nail Yakupov scores a goal, then steps up his play for the remainder of the season.

The Otherside:

Defenseman Marc Methot (lower body) practiced Wednesday and will be a game-time decision. He has missed the past six games. Center Kyle Turris (ankle), out since Jan. 18, skated before his teammates practiced. There was no update on his status. Clarke MacArthur (concussion) skated with Turris and then for the first 20 minutes of practice. This was his first skate with teammates since his head injury in the fourth game of the season on Oct. 14. He hopes to be cleared for contact next week and return to game action in early March. “I’m still having a few things happen, but it’s night and day to where we were a month ago and even two weeks ago,” MacArthur told the Senators website. The Senators have lost four of their past five games, including a 6-5 defeat to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. – nhl.com
