NHL Rumors and Speculation

David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period) says the Bruins, Maple Leafs, Avalanche, and Panthers have all had interest in New Jersey Devils winger Kyle Palmieri.

  • Teams like Chicago, Boston, and Buffalo have poked around Blue Jackets goalie Elvis Merzlikins before and there’s some talk around the Bruins org. that Tuukka Rask is playing his final NHL season. That could result in a move at some point. Darcy Kuemper is also on Boston’s radar.

Elliotte Friedman (Sportsnet) thinks that Rasmus Dahlin and Dylan Cozens are “almost untouchable” and that the Buffalo Sabres would listen on anyone else.

  • Teams have taken notice to Sabres players Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristolainen this season.
  • The New York Islanders have had interest in LA Kings forward Alex Iafallo.
  • It doesn’t seem like there is any will to think about selling off players for the Nashville Predators anymore.
  • The Anaheim Ducks want to be sellers at the trade deadline and they’re looking for 19-23 year olds who can play in the NHL.
  • Riley Nash, David Savard, Michael Del Zotto and the goalies are some names that have come up for the Columbus Blue Jackets.
  • Scott Laughton is an interesting centre option for the Pittsburgh Penguins but it would have to be a three-team deal.
  • The Islanders had some interest in Dustin Brown. That might not be what LA wants to do though.
  • The preference is for pending UFA Alex Edler to stay with the Vancouver Canucks.

Chris Johnston (Sportsnet) says that Tampa Bay has inquired about a depth forward and that the Toronto Maple Leafs have some interest in Kyle Palmieri.

Darren Dreger (TSN) says the Winnipeg Jets have kicked tires on Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Nikita Zadorov as well as Jamie Oleksiak of the Dallas Stars.

  • The ask from the Jets for Nashville Predators d-man Mattias Ekholm is a 1st round pick, blue chip defenseman Ville Heinola, and another asset. The Jets do not want to part with Heinola.
  • There’s been very little interest up front in Ryan Dzingel.
  • Thanks The Vancouver Canucks will be successful in extending Tanner Pearson to a two or three-year deal in the very near future.

Frank Seravalli (TSN) believes there’s some interest in Buffalo Sabres defender Colin Miller.

  • Chicago, Detroit, and San Jose are three teams willing to take money and broker a deal.

Daniel Nugent-Bowman (The Athletic) reckons it’s possible, maybe even likely, the Oilers don’t make a deal before the deadline. A team source said a 2nd line LW and a 3rd line center remain the priorities. A left-side defenseman could be on the wish list as well.

Aaron Portzline (The Athletic) says Toronto, Colorado, and the Islanders are said to be interested in Nick Foligno, but Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen hasn’t engaged in Foligno trade talks yet.

  • Most around the Bruins expect forward Sean Kuraly to leave Boston this summer as a UFA.
