Edmonton Oilers Talk: Have You Ever Built a Roster Using This Method?

This could be the greatest idea of the day or it could be the dumbest, but either way, there’s not a whole lot to write about these days unless you’re the type that loves delving into the fine details of the NHL’s 2020-21 return to play news…

That said, have you seen this goal from Edmonton Oilers prospect Dylan Holloway?

I’ve got a feeling, those Oilers fans who were pissing and moaning that Edmonton wasted their first-rounder on Holloway are going to flip-flop in a massive way once he hits the pros. He’s a real beauty folks as you will see over the course of this season and soon, the World Juniors which are in Holloway’s backyard.

So, I’ve got a little challenge for you.

Basically, what you’re going to do is build an all-time roster using the first letter of a player’s surname but you have to use every letter in the alphabet. That means we’re going to have fourteen forwards, seven defencemen, three goalies, and two coaches in order to use all the letters.

If you don’t really get what I’m saying, scroll down and you’ll see what I’ve done.

All the players have to play their proper positions too! No cheating! The players have had to have played in that position for the majority of their careers. I used Hockey-Reference.com for all of my players with the exception of one (Tom Xavier).

Good Luck with ‘X’!

Here’s mine!

Elias-Lemieux-Jagr
Tikkanen-Gretzky-Kurri
Delvecchio-McDavid-Richard
Vanek-Yzerman-Iginla
(Ullman, Xavier)

Orr-Shore
Coffey-Numminen
Bourque-Zubov
(Quinn (Pat))

Hasek
Plante
Fuhr

Arbour
Wilson (Ron)

It’s not an easy task. It starts off really easy but then you realize there are a helluva lot more left-shooting defencemen than righties and you start second-guessing who you have in net… Before you know it, you’ve got yourself all twisted up in knots.

Anyway, good luck!

They're with me until the end and then some. GO OILERS GO!
