Edmonton Oilers Trade Rumors: SIX Forwards Being Linked to Edmonton

History tells us that Ken Holland will probably target a defenseman at the trade deadline considering that the Oilers are serious contenders for the Stanley Cup but according to local legend, Lowetide, Edmonton might stand pat there and address the forward group. Read on to see who the Edmonton Oilers could target to upgrade their already league-best offense.

But before we get to that, give us a follow on the socials!

The Latest Edmonton Oilers Trade Rumors

“(Elias) Lindholm is the optimal addition at the deadline. Puck IQ informs us that Lindholm plays extreme minutes versus elites (45 percent of his overall five-on-five minutes) and owns a 45.6 percent Dangerous Fenwick against the best opposition.”

  • Lindholm’s playing on a very underwhelming Flames team. His fancies would most likely improve on a better team. But, he is the optimal addition as LT says. He’s a right-shot center with a 55% win-rate on the dot this year. He scores and he plays the game honestly but what’s the cost considering the Oilers would need to fit that $4.85M salary in?

“(Jake) Guentzel can play either wing, is a strong goal-scorer and has good speed. The cost would be dear, and it’s uncertain that the Penguins will trade him.”

  • I’m not convinced this is the kind of player Edmonton would go after. I think the cost would be too much and as much as he’d be an awesome addition, it all comes back to the cost. The Oilers don’t have the assets unless they want to part with Holloway, Broberg, and probably a roster player and a 1st rounder. I’m not doing that.

“(Vlad) Tarasenko has not delivered an impact offensive season since 2021-22 (34 goals with the St. Louis Blues) but could deliver a strong run with Leon Draisaitl as his centre.”

  • I’m of the same opinion. The Senators are garbage this year for some reason and him signing in Ottawa has be an abysmal failure. However, he’s not playing with a Connor McDavid or a Leon Draisaitl and if Edmonton is looking for a veteran with playoff experience and knows how to score, it’s Tarasenko. In 91 games he has 44 goals!!!

“(Adam) Henrique is a consistent player who is currently ripping it up for the Anaheim Ducks. His scoring rates at five-on-five have been quality for the last five seasons.”

  • I do not mind this player at this point in his career for the Oilers. At best he’s a middle-six forward but one that can hold his own offensively. He’s got the necessary regular season experience to help a Cup contending team too. You do wonder how well he’ll be able to hold up health-wise though. Since 2017-18, he’s only played more than 62 games twice. That said, this year he looks to be having a bit of a revival with 32pts in 48 games so far. There’s a chance he could hit career highs in multiple offensive metrics if he stays off the IR.

“(Sean) Monahan can play all three forward positions, is having a fine season in all areas and owns a cap hit under $2 million. He would be a solid complementary addition for the Oilers.”

  • I think this is a safe suggestion. It might cost Edmonton to get him though. He’s a well-sought after player this year and I think there are going to be a lot of top teams gunning for his services. His health history is concerning too.

“(Arthur) Kaliyev may be available and the Oilers should pursue him. Kaliyev is a one-dimensional player, but that dimension is goal-scoring.”

  • Nah… Not for a playoff run. I’d prefer to target a player with more experience and more dimensions, to be honest. Also, somebody with more versatility if they’re playing 4th line TOI.

If you ask me, out of these candidates, I like Tarasenko the best because of his experience and scoring rate during the post-season. I think the acquisition cost might be easier to swallow as well.

Personally, I feel like the Oilers need help on the 4th line
