2019/20 Edmonton Oilers GM42: Rangers @ Oilers – 3P2W – Changes Are Coming…

For the first time in the 2019/20 NHL season, the Edmonton Oilers are on the outside looking in on a playoff spot. They’ve been passed by the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Las Vegas Golden Knights, and Arizona Coyotes and now sit at 5th in the Pacific Division. Why is that and are we 100% sure that it means the Oilers will be in a position to win another draft lottery?

The underlying numbers have been poor all year and the cynics within the Oilers fanbase will be rejoicing in the fact that “they’ve been saying it all along” but the fact of the matter is, nobody could’ve predicted Edmonton’s best players would begin to shit the bed. Some analysts are saying that if Connor McDavid wasn’t carrying the offensive load for Edmonton that they’d be competing with the Red Wings for last place, I think that’s predicated on some fantasy where McDavid isn’t an Oiler maybe, I don’t know. Those kinds of claims don’t take the conversation anywhere for me. Are we saying if you take a team’s best player away out of their lineup that that team might struggle in the area where that player excels? Not exactly mind-blowing analysis.

What we should be asking is why Leon Draisaitl can’t stop racking up minuses or why in the world is Ryan Nugent-Hopkins producing at an AHL player’s rate? What happened to the Nurse/Bear pairing all of a sudden and what’s the reason for Oscar Klefbom’s race to the green jacket?

From 12/1/2019 to today, the Oilers have five forwards (out of fourteen) with negative metrics in the category of expected goals for %,

  • Jujhar Khaira (-6.21)
  • Zack Kassian (-2.88)
  • Leon Draisaitl (-17.02)
  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (-3.82)
  • Connor McDavid (-3.48)

Every other forward on the Edmonton is in the plus. So, when those players have been on the ice, it’s been tilted the other way.

When a team’s best players can’t keep the team afloat, get your life jackets out folks.

Now, what’s funny is that none of the analysts I’ve read are mentioning PDO, or puck luck basically. Draisaitl has a PDO of .881 and Oscar Klefbom’s is .899. That is ridiculous and at some point will come back to normal. James Neal has a .910, RNH’s is .922, McDavid’s sits at .955… Edmonton’s best player in that category is “Dwight” Joakim Nygard with a 1.042.

Now, knowing these things, how does that change our outlook on the season? I still feel there’s a playoff club here and that they’re going through a tough spell. Do Edmonton’s stars need to buck up defensively? Yes. 100% and not because they’re slacking, but because it would help the team win. Would I like to see the Oilers make some changes to their roster? I’m always down for some chaos in that regard…

Changes Are Coming

Markus Granlund and Brandon Manning are on their way to Bakersfield while Kailer Yamamoto and William Lagesson are in Edmonton.

If you’ve had your ear to the ground you could probably have seen this coming. Changes after Christmas is what I was told and here we are today with two more notable ones. Now, what these two moves tell me is that Ken Holland is still grinding away looking for some deals to improve the club externally but feels the right thing to do is to offer an opportunity to those within his club first.

Yamamoto is going to bring tenacity, quickness, and as I’ve been saying for a long time now, an ability to draw penalties. He does that very well. The other thing he does is he thrives in the trenches and has no fear. He looks a bit thicker this year and I’m hoping that contributes to him being able to stay healthy during this latest stint in Edmonton. I don’t believe he would’ve been called up had Josh Archibald not blocked that shot with his knee against Calgary though.

It’s my belief that the Oilers are discussing trades with multiple teams and William Lagesson, as well as Kris Russell’s name, has come up in said discussions. Plainly put, somebody is getting showcased here. “Wild Bill” is ready to take the next step and he’s spent a lot of time playing alongside Caleb Jones during their time in Bakersfield (AHL) together. It makes sense that they’d play together again in the future.

Lagesson is a fine player. He’s like a Mattias Ekholm lite. Big, tough, can make a pass, skates well, and can make a play on offense if needed… Great head of lettuce too.

I see a lot of fans saying that it should be Tyler Benson that should’ve been called up and I get that sentiment. He’s a local lad and a great story, but not only that, he’s the straw that’s been stirring the drink down in Bakersfield. I watched him this weekend and his skating has improved marginally. I think he might end up having boots like Jordan Eberle once he makes the show. That said, he plays LW and the Oilers don’t require a left-winger at the moment. Should they finally take the plunge and move JJ Khaira this year though, that’s when you’ll probably see Benson get called up.

If you’re not satisfied with these moves, I don’t imagine any transaction is going to satiate your appetite. Ken Holland is 6 months into the job and stated at his introduction presser that he’s going to bring stability to the club and he’s going to practice drafting and developing players. He wants to build a team that can make the playoffs every year, not just once every three or four years.

I know it’s hard to be patient, but that’s the way it has to be. If you still can’t accept that, could you maybe take solace in the fact that the Oilers are right in the mix for a playoff spot?

Three Players to Watch for the Rangers

  • #16 Ryan Strome – The former Oiler has seven points in his last five games whilst centering Panarin. It’d only make sense if he continues to pile up the points against his old club since that seems to be what every former Oiler does.
  • #9 Artemi Panarin – 17pts in his last ten games and is always a threat to score when playing Edmonton. The Breadman is as electrifying as it’s going to get on the Rangers and Edmonton’s defense will have their work cut out for them.
  • #89 Pavel Buchnevich – In the back of my mind I feel like this is the player that Edmonton might be angling for in a Jesse Puljujarvi trade. This Russian has been in and out of David Quinn’s doghouse this year and he just the right guy to flank one of Edmonton’s big centers. He’s a big-bodied winger with outstanding hands, a laser of a wrist shot, powerful strides and strong on the boards. His concentration can waver and I reckon that’s what gets him in trouble with coaches.

Three Players To Watch for the Oilers

  • #56 Kailer Yamamoto – Game one of the 2019/20 season for Yamo. I’ll really be looking forward to watching how his game differs at this level compared to what I’ve seen from him in the AHL.
  • #10 Joakim Nygard – Four points in his last ten. He’s starting to get his feet back under him and his speed is drawing penalties.
  • #74 Ethan Bear – If Coach Tippett keeps his lines from last practise, Bear is up with Klefbom on the top pairing and he’ll be seeing a lot of New York’s best players. Tanks like Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad will offer formidable challenges to the rookie defender.

Edmonton Oilers Rumors: New Names to Add to the Mill PLUS Who’s Safe in Edmonton?

Last night I was contacted by more than one source to tell me that Jesse Puljujarvi is SAFE and wouldn’t be traded. That message is obviously contrary to what insiders like Elliotte Friedman, Ryan Rishaug, and Chris Johnston are saying but I have a theory on that. It also dovetails with what Kurt Leavins said yesterday on Twitter,

I feel like the Edmonton Oilers fanbase is one of the most active in the NHL and that it drives a lot of numbers for TSN’s and Sportsnet’s hockey coverage. I have no proof of course but with the way that the media is crawling all over Peter Chiarelli right now, it makes sense on their end to exasperate the perceived situation for profit.

Case in point: Craig Button saying Evan Bouchard ISN’T one of the top-50 prospects not playing in the NHL right now.

That’s a giant line of bullshit! He was in love with Bouchard before the draft and was saying if he was a better skater, he might be challenging Dahlin for 1st overall. To put a guy like Gabe Vilardi ahead of Bouchard is disingenuous. I mean, a scout worth his salt would never rate Vilardi ahead of Bouchard at this point. Generally, you want a player who’s going to actually play hockey in the future to be on a list like that, no? I wonder if Button is a bit salty that Bouchard had a tough World Juniors?

Getting back to Puljujarvi, Oilers management feels that they need to do right by this player and are willing to do what it takes to see things through with him. The same goes for Kailer Yamamoto. Peter Chiarelli is VERY hesitant to deal these players because he sees the potential in these players and Edmonton needs value contracts going forward. Pulju might not be producing at a Patrik Laine-like rate and that might result in his next contract being more affordable or “cheap” for lack of a better description. So him struggling to produce points might actually be a blessing in disguise because when he breaks out, and he will, the Oilers will be underpaying him.

A new season means a new design! Click the image above to get the new Pulju shirt!

I’m just going to put the other things I was told in point form here to get this post moving a bit faster for you,

  • New Name: Oilers like Miles Wood out of NJ
  • Keith (Gretzky) is a big part of the negotiations, Peter is manning the controls, but Bob (Nicholson) has final say.
  • On Josh Ho-Sang: He’s a good young player. Just has to get his game together. If we get him, I wonder what Hitch can do for him?
  • On Michael Ferland: Oilers are talking to Car about him. They like him. No offer made but they’re chatting.
  • Oilers are also talking to Pitts about Brassard
  • Nuge isn’t being moved. Klef, Nurse. None of them.
  • They’re also not moving the 1st round pick for a UFA rental. That is out of the question.
  • On Wayne Simmonds: At this point is an absolute no. Philly wants a goaltender or top 6 roster player, a 1st pick AND a top blue chip prospect. Edm isn’t going down that road
  • On Cam Talbot: I don’t believe they’re moving Cam Talbot at this time unless a knock your socks off offer comes along that involves a goalie coming back.
  • On Tyler Toffolli: They’re not talking with LA. Not trading within their own division.
  • That first pick, unless it’s a productive player WITH term (3 4 years) the 1st will not be moved.
  • On Rishaug’s “Young developing player”That young developing player would be a guy in Bakersfield. It will not be a guy like Yamo or Pulju. Have to stay patient with those two blue chippers.
  • They’re shopping Spooner and Benning. Trying to find a partner to dance with. Tough market for those fellas.
  • They’re not moving Milan Lucic either.
  • On Jordan Eberle: There is also some chat garnering around about bringing in Eberle. Now whether that’s now or offseason, I’d suggest off-season. Eberle would come over at $3M-$4M per on a 2 or 3-year deal is my guess.

So there you have it! It looks like Chiarelli is ready to die on the sword to save the core of this team despite what the owner wants. I can respect that and I might be in the minority here, but I don’t want him to do anything big. The teams around Edmonton in the playoff race are struggling and despite the Oilers poor recent record, they’re still in the thick of this. This is exactly the right time for some shooting percentages to return to the mean and Oscar Klefbom’s return is right around the corner.

Friedman mentioned Mats Zuccarello out of New York and I could see him being a nice add to the team. I wouldn’t pay top dollar for him as he’s struggled all year but if the Rangers would take Spooner back (hahaha, as if) or maybe Matt Benning, Edmonton might actually be able to afford him? What about a Rieder for Zuccarello trade? Ethan Bear and Ostap Safin?

If I had to guess, I wonder if Edmonton will try to acquire a really good right-handed face-off man for the 3rd line. It’s been a weakness of the team for some time and it really hurts them late in tight games I feel. Glendening out of Detroit comes to mind for me.

If not that piece then a veteran winger to give the Oilers the option to send Yamamoto back to Bakersfield. The aforementioned Zuccarello fits that description.

Edmonton Oilers Opinion: Puljujarvi Tearing Up the AHL, Matt Tka-turtle and McLellan’s BS

The Edmonton Oilers had a chance to take 2 points from the Calgary Flames last night but gave it away chasing Matty Tkachuk around the ice thus exposing Todd McLellan’s inferior coaching once again this season.

The team is now 9-9-1 and can either go over .500 with a win over Vegas tonight or fall under .500 with a loss.

How long is Todd McLellan’s leash do you think?

What a hilarious phrase! Click the pic to get yours today!

Todd McLellan’s BS

If I were Peter Chiarelli, I’d be phoning up Darryl Katz and getting permission to move forward with a coaching change. This is getting ridiculous.

Cooper Marody played a shade over 3 minutes last night… THREE FOOKIN’ MINUTES! What was the point of inserting him into the lineup? McLellan said they couldn’t get him back into the game because of all the penalties and then by the time they could, they’d shortened the bench.. Geez…

Then the new guy couldn’t break 10 minutes because the coach decided to put Lucic up on the McDavid line to combat Matthew Tkachuk who, by the way, was having NO IMPACT on the actual playing part of the game.

Now, I have no problem with Lucic taking a shift or two now and then with Connor or Leon but the entire 3rd period when the team was looking flat?! No no no no no no. You get Spooner back in the game, you get Marody back in there, and you start playing hockey again. Enough running around looking for payback or at least if you’re looking for blood, start taking out the Gaudreaus, the Lindholms, the Monahans.

Did RNH even play last night? I hardly noticed him.

Like, how is McLellan even running that bench? His decisions are costing the team in a season where he’s coaching for his job…

Matt Tkachuk

I’ll say this, I think he’s elite and what I mean by that is, he’s the best player in the NHL at not getting caught.

How many times was he punching an Oiler in the face, taking a run at someone, or getting his shots in after the whistles? Yet, no penalties. He’s Teflon. Nothing sticks to that kid and at the same time I hate it and love it. He’s perfect for the game today because he throws chaos into every game he plays. Chaos is good in a league that is so rigid and planned.

That said, he’s playing a very dangerous game. Zack Kassian and Milan Lucic could’ve really hurt him last night (yes, there was a part of me that was hoping one of the Oilers tough guys would’ve knocked him out).

Mark my words. His day will come and it might not even be him getting tuned in. Maybe next time Kassian grabs Gaudreau in the same manner John Scott went after Phil Kessel years ago. Just an apology before the puck drops and then POW! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!

Stauffer made an interesting point on Twitter after the game.

The Oilers could’ve won that game easily had Leon Draisaitl or Jujhar Khaira scored on the three breakaways they had combined. So there’s that.

F*ck Tkachuk! Click the link and grab one of these beauties!

Jesse Puljujarvi

I’m so happy I bought the Bakersfield Condors package from AHLTV. I’ve watched both games that Jesse Puljujarvi has played in since being sent down and let me tell you… WOW! Not a sign of poor confidence that I’ve seen.

Remember how Pulju was looking during pre-season when we all thought the Oilers RW depth was sorted? Well, he looks even better than that vs AHL competition.

In his first game, the Condors played ex-Oilers coach Dallas Eakins and the San Diego Gulls. Jesse lined up with Josh Currie and Kailer Yamamoto to start but Woodcroft did end up switching things up later in the game.

The Condors spent WAY too much time in the penalty box and the Gulls made them pay for it. They actually chased Al Montoya from the net early in the game forcing Shane Starrett to mind the net for the rest of the match.

The game will most likely be remembered for career minor-leaguer Corey Tropp sticking Jesse Puljujarvi in the nuts and then proceeding to fight the big Finn after Pulju slapped his stick away. It was not a great showing for Jesse in that department but in the hockey playing department, he was looking like that kid who was dominating the SM-Liigga as a 17-year-old.

He was hitting, skating, shooting, making plays, and just being the end-to-end force we know he can be. Seriously. I have never seen him play like that apart from maybe the World Juniors but even then I’m not sure the physicality was there. He was truly a beast in that game but unfortunately, the Condors dropped the decision 4-0.

The next game was against the Colorado Eagles and Pulju was back at it alongside Josh Currie (again) and Tyler Benson. Jay Woodcroft even had him lined up on the PP in his old trusty spot, half-wall left side. I just remember him and Ethan Bear passing it back and forth trying to figure out who was going to take the one-timer.

I love how Woodcroft is using him. He knows exactly how to use him and it’s so refreshing. You see, Puljujarvi is a line driver. He, like Connor and Leon, loves to swoop into the d-zone and gather the puck in order to drive it through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone but Todd will not allow that on his team. Only Connor is supposed to be doing that I’ve heard.

Great way to put a guy in a position to succeed.

Anyways, Pulju ended the night with a goal and an assist. I believe the goal was the GWG to boot with the Condors winning 4-2. Tyler Benson also had 2 assists.

In both matches, Jesse Puljujarvi was slicing through AHL defenses like a hot Finnish blade through some Valio. It could be the adrenaline but I’m willing to bet that he’s just too good for this league with the way he’s punishing the opposition.

I will add this though, he’s taking shots but they’re a lot like the ones he was taking in Edmonton. From the outside and at distance. He needs to get right in there and flick the wrists as Lemieux used to when he’d score bar-down on a nightly basis in the 90s. That’s my only gripe.

After the first game, where he was bulldozing players and getting into scraps, I felt really proud of Jesse because it’s not easy to take a demotion like that and the way he has chosen to channel that emotion really impresses me. He’s using it to be the better player on the ice and if he continues to play like this, he’ll earn a call-up to the Oilers in no time. Hopefully, by then the Oilers will have a new bench boss that will use him properly.

Just a quick note on some of the other players for Bakersfield.

  • Hebig has been invisible the last two games.
  • Benson is already dominating at this level as a two-way playmaker.
  • Ethan Bear will not be ready this season even though the Oilers could use his passing. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s available in the right trade.
  • Yamamoto has been hot/cold these last two games. He’s good at the AHL-level but he still needs some refinement.

I’ve really enjoyed watching this minor pro hockey. It’s very unpredictable whereas NHL hockey is getting too regimented. Almost like watching football. Set plays are everywhere. I love the mistake-laden hockey as it offers up way more chances.

Edmonton Oilers Rumors: Spooner Acquisition Just the Beginning?

She’s been a busy weekend here in Taipei and I haven’t had the chance to comment on the Strome/Spooner trade. So I’d like to do that right now and also address some possibility of future moves being made by the team.

The Trade

I like the trade but how much longer will Peter Chiarelli put up with Todd McLellan’s BS? More on that in a second.

Ryan Strome was spinning his wheels in Edmonton on the third line and the PK. Funny, this was the second season in a row where the elder Strome started the year horribly. Remember when Nick Kypreos went on Hockey Night in Canada early last year and let it be known that the Oilers weren’t happy with Strome’s performances and might be looking to move on from him?

Well, I guess Chiarelli didn’t want to wait for Kyper to get his meathooks stuck in again this year and pulled the trigger on a deal to bring in a former 2nd round pick of his.

Full disclosure, I have never really paid close attention (or any attention at all really) to the career of Ryan Spooner so I had nothing to really go on until I watched him vs. Calgary last night and what I saw didn’t disappoint me. Although, he’s got to tie his man up a bit better than that in front of the net.

He’s quick and he looks like he doesn’t mind taking a shot which is good. I think the Oilers could use a few more shoot-first players.

Getting back to Strome a bit here. I never really minded his game but one of my pet peeves regarding how he played was that he spent far too much time on the perimeter. He can skate and he can stickhandle and shoot but he really had no time for the interior of the ice and that’s not how you’re going impress the coach. I thought he could’ve done more to become a more dominant defensive player though.

More Deals Coming?

Maybe. What I was told was that if the Oilers keep up with the sub-par performances, changes will come. They still want that PP QB and possibly another centre.

The way I interpret that is the coach will be replaced. We can talk about how the Oilers could move Zack Kassian or Milan Lucic but trades are difficult to make I feel. Axing the coach and bringing in a new one is just a matter of getting the owners approval because it’s going to hit him in the wallet.

Now, I can’t say one way or another if the Oilers would hire Joel Quenneville but I will say with certainty, if the Oilers do go out and get him, they’ll be paying a very dear price to hire him on.

My question would be, do you think he’d only come in on the interim basis? The reason I ask that is that Pittsburgh is absolutely floundering right now. Would they axe their coach and bring Quenneville in? Which sort of team would Coach Q prefer?

Before I end this, I just want to float a few names your way and you tell me if you think they’re too far-fetched, ok?

  • Nikita Zadorov (COL) – LHD – The hard-hitting Russian is in Bednar’s doghouse.
  • Phil Kessel (PIT) – RW – How long will Rutherford keep Phil the Thrill during this slump?
  • Jeff Carter (LA) – C – How far will LA go in dismantling things?

Lots of questions to be asked and so… We wait.

Edmonton Oilers Prospects: Do the Bakersfield Condors Have the Best Top-6 in the AHL?

News to nobody is the Edmonton Oilers have sent our favorite sons Jesse Puljujarvi and Kailer Yamamoto to their AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, California to play for Jay Woodcroft’s Flyin’ Condors.

After watching both youngsters tear up the field in the pre-season, it’s been disappointing to watch their performances tail off to the point to where they need to be sent down to the AHL. I’ve thrown a lot of vitriol the direction of Todd McLellan during the first 16 games of the season with how he’s been handling Puljujarvi and even a bit of that has landed on Yamamoto and Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli too.

Speaking of Chiarelli, should he be vilified for waiting so long to move these boys to the minors or praised for actually going through with it? I feel like it’s a bit of column A and a bit of column B. The move was a long-time coming and neither Jesse Puljujarvi or Kailer Yamamoto should’ve needed to in the press box for a week but with that, if Chiarelli had acquired the necessary forwards, perhaps McLellan wouldn’t have had to healthy scratch them.

Just a word on pre-season scoring before we get into the nitty-gritty. Jason Gregor likes to play down the competition during the preseason and I don’t agree with how he more or less mocks any player that performs well in that time because the teams are more or less glorified AHL teams. Isn’t that the utmost perfect time to be performing well when challenged? And all three of Puljujarvi, Yamamoto, and Rattie answered the call. So what were the Oilers supposed to do at that point?

Also, not all of those teams were completely AHL lineups. I believe that Puljujarvi had a helluva game versus the Canucks when they dressed 6 NHL defenseman. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Either way, I support this decision for the long-term development of both Pulju and Yammo and I hope there are no hard feelings. I understand that Jesse isn’t happy with the decision but would he rather be in Edmonton getting shafted by the coach there or in Bakersfield playing for a coach who, we hope, will play the living shite out of him.

TSN’s Darren Dreger recently reported there may be some frustration on the part of Puljujarvi that he didn’t get what many see as a fair shake to build consistency on the Oilers roster. (source)

These boys are only 20 and they’ve got a lot of professional hockey ahead of them. The way I see it is that when Chiasson and Caggiula’s production dries up, as it always does, or injuries rear their ugly mug, they’ll be looking for someone to come in and provide some offense and at that point, Jesse will get the recall because he’s got the most experience at the NHL level.

WHO’S COMING UP?

The Oilers have 12 forwards at the moment, so they’re going to need a couple of players to replace Pulju and Yammo. My guess is two of the Condors top line of Joseph Gambardella, Patrick Russell, and Brad Malone will be coming up.

I’m sure there’ll be fans who reckon that Tyler Benson should come up or Cameron Hebig or Cooper Marody again but I would counter that argument by saying the Oilers just sent two 20-year-olds down to Bakersfield, why would they recall a couple more young players? Leave those kids in the Bake and let them continue to dominate.

I mean, I could be wrong but I feel like they’ll want older, more mature players to be brought up. Players that are very good at listening to instructions and doing what they’re told. Gambardella is the youngest at 24, then Russell at 25, and then Malone at 29.

Just as an aside, can anybody tell me why Joseph Gambardella wears the #5? I have never seen a forward in my life wear that number. There has to be a story behind it.

DO THE CONDORS HAVE THE BEST TOP-6 IN THE AHL?

Benson-Marody-Puljujarvi
Yamamoto-Malone-Hebig
Christoffer-Currie-Gust
Polei-Esposito-Callahan

That’s what the Condors’ forward lines could look like for their next game against Dallas Eakins’ San Diego Gulls later this upcoming week.

Now just imagine what that’d look like if Edmonton found a way to bring in a couple of proper NHL players and both Gambardella and Russell were on the roster!

Benson-Marody-Puljujarvi
Yamamoto-Currie-Hebig
Gambardella-Malone-Russell
Polei-Esposito-Callahan
Gust/Christoffer (Extra)

That’s a helluva forward group eh?

Brad Malone has been the team’s no.1 center this season but I don’t feel like he has the right tools to play alongside Jesse Puljujarvi. It’s important that he plays with skill players and Marody/Benson will be the best linemates for Pulju at this junction.

Josh Currie could probably rotate in and out on either line 1 or 2 as he’s got some offensive flair to his game.

I subscribed to AHL TV, so I’ll be able to watch the games and let you know how things went for our boys.

TODD McLELLAN’S COMMENTS

We want a confident set of players and if he can’t gain that confidence or that traction here then maybe the best answer is somewhere else (AHL). Those decisions will be made as we go forward.” — Oilers coach Todd McLellan on struggling winger Jesse Puljujarvi

That is a quote taken from Rob Tychkowski, a journalist with the Edmonton Sun and the Edmonton Journal.

I have one question though, why did Tychkowski put AHL in brackets behind “maybe the best answer is somewhere else”?

Do we know for sure that Todd McLellan meant the AHL or was that a shot at Peter Chiarelli? I did ask my sources what they’d heard and their comments remain consistent. The Oilers want to be patient with Puljujarvi and do what’s best for his development but, and this is my opinion, I think if there’s a deal on the table that will make them better this year, they’ll consider it.

If Chiarelli and McLellan are performing their duties with the intentions of saving them, they’re already gone.

Edmonton’s next 7 games ring out as such:

  • Colorado – Top line of Landeskog/MacKinnon/Rantanen are on fire
  • Montreal – Somehow they are tearing through the league on the back of… Max Domi?
  • Calgary – I don’t know how they’re doing it with the goaltenders they have. They’re utter shite.
  • Vegas – Didn’t we say they’d fall back to Earth?
  • SJ – How’s that Karlsson/Burns combo working out for ya there?
  • Anaheim – They’ve had Edmonton’s number for a while but are those the winds of change I hear?
  • LA – They held Calgary to a goal against last night. Can they do the same with the Oilers?

Do you think the Oilers can run the table here? 7/7? That’d be something but I have a feeling those are some lofty wishes.

What do you think?
